Ecovadis Champions & 'Leave No-One Behind'
At SCARAB, we recognise that sustainability is a team effort - and our dedicated team of Ecovadis Champions is leading the charge. This team is comprised of stakeholders from across our business and their aim is to demonstrate excellence in environmental stewardship, ethical business practices, and social responsibility.
SCARAB continues to meet global sustainability standards, supported by our commitment to the UN Global Compact, while strengthening our reputation as a responsible manufacturer. All our sustainability actions are grouped under our ‘Leave No-One Behind’ initiative which highlights our activities and targets as a business. Our business activity and social value ethos have led us to adopt the six Sustainable Development Goals, and we take action to contribute to them.
A selection of our recent actions can be seen below:
Quality Education
Promoting Inclusive, Equitable Quality Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All
We collaborated with several local childcare providers to distribute Environmental Awareness Packs, which include engaging books, creative colouring materials, and age-appropriate explanations of how sweepers work. This initiative aimed to inspire curiosity and environmental responsibility in young children through fun and educational resources.
The SCARAB team has supplemented this with educational visits to local Pre-Schools (including Marden Pre-School) to explain to the next generation how road sweepers keep our planet clean.

Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition.
Following the delivery of four road sweepers to a customer in Scotland, SCARAB donated £500.00 to support local food banks in the area. It was decided, to best help the community, we would split the donation into four – donating food packages to facilities in the four locations within the precincts they operate.

Good Health & Wellbeing
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Health Shield is a valuable employee benefit available to SCARAB employees, offering a Health Cash Plan that helps cover the cost of everyday healthcare expenses by providing cash reimbursements for treatments and services such as dental care, eye tests and glasses, physiotherapy, specialist consultations, counselling, and other routine healthcare needs, making it easier and more affordable for employees to look after their health and wellbeing.

Life on Land
Aims to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of ecosystem.
SCARAB actively supports World Cleanup Day by encouraging employees to take part in initiatives that help reduce litter, protect local environments, and promote sustainability within the communities where the business operates. Through organised clean-up activities and employee participation, SCARAB demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility while giving colleagues the opportunity to make a positive impact beyond the workplace. These efforts help foster teamwork, community engagement, and a shared sense of pride in contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.

To mark our business activity in 2025, the SCARAB team made a donation to the Woodland Trust ‘Free Trees for Schools and Communities Scheme’. This donation supports the planting over 300 trees in the United Kingdom.

Responsible Consumption & Production
Promoting resource efficiency, reducing waste, and shifting towards sustainable production and consumption patterns.
SCARAB is proud that 92.91% of our suppliers and third-party contractors are based in the United Kingdom - a testament to our commitment to supporting local industry, strengthening domestic supply chains, and fostering trusted partnerships.

Decent Work & Economic Growth
Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment.
SCARAB's ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 accreditations demonstrate its commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and employee health and safety. These internationally recognised standards help create a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable workplace, giving employees confidence that their wellbeing, the environment, and the quality of products and services remain key business priorities.

UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT
In 2024, we proudly became participants in the United Nations Global Compact, committing to taking action based on the 10 principles, and 17 Sustainable Development Goals - this marks a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. Our Social Value priorities for 2025 are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on ‘Zero Hunger’ and ‘Quality Education’. These goals reflect our dedication to making a meaningful impact both within our community and across the broader global landscape.
