Celebrating International Women's Day

This International Women’s Day, the Scarab team is celebrating the Women in our workforce who play a crucial role in continuing to deliver our industry-leading road sweeping solutions to customers across the world.

We are proud to have a large number of Women in roles across our business and to celebrate in 2024, we asked some of the team some questions about their careers so far and the positions they play in our organization:

Amy Taylor, Human Resources Manager (part of Scarab’s Senior Leadership Team)

Q: Why do you believe it is important for women to be in management positions?

A: It is really important to have as much diversity as possible within management teams. Diversity in any group brings different approaches and opinions to consider, which is critical when making any decisions for a business.

Magda Thom, Supply Chain Manager (part of Scarab’s Senior Leadership Team)

Q: What advice would you give to young women starting in their career?

A: Do your best at all times, it does not matter how small you think the job/task is – because hard work pays off. Preferably go into a field that you like or that means something to you as it is easier to excel if you like what you are doing. Have Fun!

Gemma Anderson, Senior Buyer

Q: What is it like working in your team at Scarab?

A: I love working in my team. I consider myself very lucky to be surrounded by strong female leads. In the procurement team, we are a female-dominated department and it feels great!

Paige Hughes, Human Resources Assistant

Q: If you could give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

A: Be confident and believe in your ability. These are the tools you will need to succeed.

Anca Blasko, Bill of Materials Controller

Q: What advice would you give to young women starting in their career?

A: I would say something that nobody told me when I started my career… Be confident, even if you think it is not a job that will suit you as you might get surprised by how much you will love it. Don’t be afraid to try something different, take risks that take you out of your comfort zone, it might result in something you will enjoy doing in the future.

Jane Watson, Stores Assistant

Q: What is your greatest accomplishment or achievement?

A: Teaching my daughters to be strong, independent women!

The Scarab team would like to thank all of its female employees for their contribution to the business, and the wider industry.
